Before Arkansas basketball showcased its team Friday night, John Calipari received some positive news. Wing from the 2026 class, Abdou Toure, committed to the Razorbacks.

Arkansas basketball lands Abdou Toure

West Haven, Conn., native is a 4-star, borderline 5-star prospect and is ranked No. 34 nationally, according to 247 Sports Composite rankings. Toure is also ranked the No. 15 strong forward in the class and the top recruit from The Constitution State.

Despite being the No. 1 prospect in Connecticut, Arkansas stole him away from UConn, which was one of the teams in Toure's top three schools. Aside from UConn, the 6-foot-5, 200-pounder picked Arkansas over Providence, another Big East program that’s also closer to home.

Here's a little of what 247 Sports director of scouting Adam Finkelstein wrote about the newest Razorback commit:

"Toure is a powerful athlete on the wing who is an absolute wrecking ball going to the rim. He’s dynamic in the open floor, has a good first-step in the half-court, and can bully his way through contact like few others in the class. He’s a truly explosive leaper, who rises up with extreme quickness and power, and a violent finisher who can immediately change the momentum of a game with a single dunk."

He's reminiscent of last season's star player with an eerily similar name, Adou Thiero. Although he's a bit smaller than Thiero, Toure's game reflects the Los Angeles Laker's, recording 25.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and 1.4 turnovers per game. However, with how violent he finishes at the rim, at least one person on X likened him to another former Hog, Ricky Council IV.

With Toure's addition, Arkansas' class moves up to No. 8, according to 247 Sports. However, based on the average ranking per commit, Arkansas sits atop the leaderboard with a 99.12 average.
