Arkansas basketball made headlines Monday by sweeping the Southeastern Conference’s weekly awards, a testament to the Razorbacks’ growing momentum and standout individual performances. Guard Darius Acuff Jr. was named SEC Freshman of the Week, while senior forward Trevon Brazile earned SEC Player of the Week honors following their dominant showing against Texas Tech.

Both players were instrumental during Arkansas’ recent stretch of strong play, but their impact was most evident in the marquee win over the Red Raiders. The Razorbacks leaned on Acuff’s poise and playmaking in the backcourt, while Brazile powered the frontcourt with energy, length, and finishing ability.

Acuff’s Poise Fuels Arkansas’ Backcourt

For Acuff, the recognition reflects a level of maturity well beyond his freshman status. In the win over Texas Tech, he delivered a composed and efficient performance, finishing with 20 points and eight assists. He controlled the pace, kept possessions organized, and consistently made the right reads with the ball in his hands. Where Arkansas once looked rushed or disjointed, Acuff’s presence smoothed the offense and gave the Razorbacks a steady hand at the controls. This is his second straight Freshman of the Week award which is a sign that coaches and media are starting to take notice of the impact he brings to the team.

Brazile Sets the Tone Up Front

Brazile, meanwhile, reminded everyone why his ceiling has long been a point of intrigue in Fayetteville. The senior forward posted a double-double, going for 24 points and 10 rebounds, against a ranked Texas Tech squad, bringing relentless energy from start to finish. He set the tone physically, ran the floor, and finished plays at the rim, serving as the emotional and competitive engine of the team. When Brazile is engaged and aggressive, the Razorbacks tend to follow and this performance was no exception. Monday’s honor marked the second SEC Player of the Week award of Brazile’s career. This latest recognition suggests that Brazile is once again tapping into that potential.

Awards Reflect Team Momentum

Together, Acuff and Brazile carried the production load in complementary ways. Acuff provided calm, control, and creativity, while Brazile delivered power, effort, and momentum-shifting plays. Their performances have not only filled the stat sheet but also translated directly into wins.

With both players trending upward and confidence growing across the roster, Arkansas is beginning to look like a team no one will want to see down the stretch. If Acuff continues to develop at this pace and Brazile maintains his energy and impact, more awards, and more attention, may not be far behind. The Razorbacks are building something under year 2 of the Coach Cal experience, and the rest of the conference is starting to take notice.
