The newest Arkansas basketball commit is on the rise in the 2026 class. On Tuesday, JJ Andrews, son of Arkansas offensive line legend Shawn Andrews, made a massive jump in the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
JJ Andrews explodes up the 2026 recruiting class rankings
Andrews is now rated a 97 4-star and ranked the No. 17 prospect in the nation. When he committed to the Razorbacks on May 15, he was the No. 42 recruit and a 93-rated 4-star.
The bump in his ratings came after his outstanding performance at EYBL Memphis, which helped the Brad Beal Elite dominate the summer league to this point in the season. He's averaging over 20 points a game, including on Saturday when 247Sports national basketball analyst Travis Branham was present.
"The 6-foot-6 small forward is clearly a 'dude' in this class and on the brink of a major jump up the rankings," wrote Branham. "Andrews' athleticism, strength, and expanded skillset are nightmares for players at the high school level. His ability to get downhill, spin off defenders, finish in the lane, kick out to shooters, and even hit shots himself is impressive."
It's a big step in the right direction for the 2026 class, and as the only player committed at the moment, it is a good start to bringing in another top-5 class to Fayetteville. The fifth in six seasons, to be specific.
Andrews is following in his father's footsteps. Shawn Andrews was a .9755 4-star guard out of high school, the second-ranking in the country, and the No. 71 player overall in the class of 2001.
