John Calipari is an exceptional recruiter. For example, he consistently pulls in top-rated talent, such as Boogie Fland and Darius Acuff. But recently, he's shown the ability to find underrated prospects before

JJ Andrews earns Peach Jam MVP honors

When JJ Andrews committed to the Razorbacks, 247Sports ranked him as the No. 43 prospect in the country. Since then, he's climbed the rankings to No. 13, barely missing the coveted 5-star label. On3 also has Andrews just below the mark, but ESPN has already elevated him to a 5-star. If he doesn't slow down, the Little Rock Christian product may soon break the threshold. He recently balled out for his second consecutive Peach Jam title.

Andrews' Brad Beal Elite teams defeated the New York Renaissance in the finals, 75-55. At the end of the first half, Brad Beal Elite only led by four points. However, Andrew's performance in the second half put away New York in the last 16 minutes. He scored 18 points, pulled in two boards, and added another assist; that's after playing poorly in the first half.

The 6-foot-6, 220-pounder led his team with 20 points, six rebounds, and two assists in the final, and he averaged 18.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.1 steals, while shooting 47.1 percent from the floor, earning him Peach Jam MVP honors. Impressed by what he witnessed, Travis Branham, a college basketball analyst for 247Sports, wrote glowing reviews about Andrews' performance at Peach Jam and his potential for Arkansas.

"The future Razorback is such a physical presence on the court with his strength, athleticism, and motor, but the improvement he keeps making in the half-court has taken his game to new heights," Branham wrote. "Although ranked in the top 15, Andrews is classified as a four-star recruit, but is making a strong case to be the next prospect up to earn a fifth star."

It's clear Andrew is solidifying himself as one of the more elite players in the class of 2026, adding to the numerous stars on Calipari's list.
