John Calipari and the Arkansas basketball team may have finally found their starting center.
The Razorbacks already had the No. 1 recruiting class for 2026 (as well as some notable incoming transfers), but it seems that Calipari isn't quite done yet. According to numerous sources, Arkansas has landed yet another notable signee, and this time, it may finally address the team's biggest need.

The Arkansas Razorbacks basketball team has been a mainstay in the NCAA tournament since Eric Musselman arrived on the campus back in 2019, but if there's one thing the program has routinely lacked, it's a true center who can hold down the paint. Hopefully, their latest commit -- four-star center Caleb Ourigou -- can bring an end to this unfortunate trend.
Caleb Ourigou is a 6-foot-10 big man from Overtime Elite who is currently ranked as one of the top centers in the 2027 class, but if rumors are true, then he may eventually reclassify so that he can suit up for the Arkansas Razorbacks this fall. Should this be the case, then the Hogs' loaded 2026 class would finally get the big man that fans were hoping for, cementing it as one of the best recruiting classes in the history of Arkansas athletics.
Over the past few months, Ourigou has quietly become one of the most sought-after recruits in the 2027 cycle. The athletic big earned over 25 D1 offers after breakout performances at the NBPA 100 Camp in South Carolina, the Nike EYBL circuit, and the Overtime Elite league, so it's great to see him ultimately decide to commit to the Razorbacks.
Even without adding any offensive tools to his game, Ourigou possesses the intimidating size, length, and rim protection that the Razorbacks sorely need if they want to compete late in the NCAA tournament. Luckily for him, the Razorbacks should have plenty of weapons this fall to free him up for easy looks down low, and even if Ourigou's game is still raw, his efficient blend of at-the-rim finishing and shot blocking should translate well for the Hogs.
Arkansas already has elite perimeter talent and enough shot creation to compete with just about anyone in the SEC. What the roster needed was a physical interior presence who could protect the rim and give Calipari a more traditional frontcourt option when matchups demand it, and Ourigou offers exactly that.
Looking ahead, the sky is the limit for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Should Caleb Ourigou lace up this fall, he'll be joining four of the top 50 recruits in the nation, Georgia's No. 1 scorer from 2025, Jeremiah Wilkinson, and returning fan favorite Billy Richmond III. There's a legitimate chance that the Hogs end up in the top five of the preseason rankings, especially if Ourigou is officially part of the 2026-27 roster.
