The Hogs were a win over No. 8 Texas A&M away from all but locking down a ticket to the NCAA Tournament. But in true Arkansas fashion, they failed to capitalize on the opportunity. Now, the Razorbacks are traveling to Alabama to play the No. 1 Auburn Tigers.
Coming off a win against Bama, the Tigers are on a roll. Auburn is 23-2 with losses to Duke (currently AP No. 3) and Florida (currently No. 2). It's risen to the top of college basketball atop the Player of the Year favorite Johni Broome, who leads the team in points, rebounds, assists, and blocks.
Arkansas has tough sledding ahead of it, with Broome in the post. The Hgos frontcourt has been an area of criticism all season long. Zvonimir Ivisic has come along as of late, but against A&M, he was bullied in the paint and was a nonfactor until late in the game.
Vegas doesn't like the matchup for the Razorbacks, either. Arkansas is a 16-point underdog, and ESPN's BPI gives it a 7.8 percent chance to win.
Even though it could be a letdown game after Saturday's victory against Bama, it's hard to pick the Hogs tonight with so much going against them. But that's what makes a potential upset more intriguing. A win could give the Razorbacks another resume-bolstering game under their belt, one that could punch their ticket to the Tournament, barring a catastrophic end to the season.
