Even after a fast start at the plate, Arkansas couldn't keep up with the Aggie bats on Thursday. It's the second opening game of a series that the Hogs have dropped this season, but they have shown the ability to fight back against Ole Miss earlier this year.
However, Texas A&M was the preseason No. 1 team for a reason. It's a team brimming with talent, and they're one of the hottest teams in the country at the moment. Luckily, Arkansas may have an ace up its sleeve with righty Gage Wood.
Wood hasn't pitched since his outing against Michigan in Arlington, Texas. He's replacing Gabe Gaekle in the weekend rotation, who's struggled mightily this season. He is going into today's matchup with a restricted pitch count of an unknown quantity. But the next man up, Aiden Jimenez, will offer excellent relief pitching.
