Arkansas baseball's road to Omaha starts today. The Razorbacks earned the No. 3 seed in the NCAA tournament, with the honor of hosting a regional—and potentially a super regional—in Fayetteville. And the first team up on the Hogs' list is North Dakota State.
The Bison finished the season 22-32 but won the Summit League Championship to gain a bid to the tournament. While every team deserves respect for making it this far, the Razorbacks shouldn't have a problem in game one.
The Bison played six games against high-major teams, including five SEC squads (LSU and Alabama), and lost by a combined score of 65 to 27. They showed flashes at the plate, though, scoring seven in one game versus Alabama and nine in another against LSU.
The Razorbacks are going a different route on the mound, starting Aiden Jimenez. The righty has recovered exceptionally well from surgery in the postseason and has been a great pitcher for the Hogs this season. However, his last few outings have been shaky, so it's a surprising call. Nevertheless, Jimenez is a starting-caliber arm, so, against NDSU, it could be a genius move to save the starters' arms for the rest of the regional.
To see if the gamble pays off, here's how you can watch:
