The Razorbacks unleashed a relentless offensive surge Friday night, overwhelming Georgia 13-3. After falling behind 3-0 in the third inning, Arkansas responded with 13 unanswered runs, seizing control of the game. The Hogs delivered the knockout blow in the top of the ninth, erupting for seven runs to put the game out of reach.
Although the Razorback bats deserve their flowers, the pitching staff is the story. Georgia went into the game as the fourth-best scoring offense in the country — right behind Arkansas at No. 3. Besides tripping up in the second inning, Diamond Hogs ace Zach Root was outstanding, pitching 5.2 innings and giving up only five hits for three runs. Of the 25 batters faced, Root struck out seven.
But relief pitching was just as good, pitching a no-hitter for the last three and a third innings. Aiden Jimenez was phenomenal, retiring eight batters in only 31 pitches, earning the win in the process. Dylan Carter came in the bottom of the ninth and closed it out with a 12-pitch, two-strikeout inning.
