The Diamond Hogs' season starts on Friday! Arkansas will field a team filled with talent — both new and familiar faces. As the weekend approaches, Arkansas baseball has announced a few changes to the schedule and released the starting rotation for the four-game series.
For those of you able to attend Friday's game, congratulations! Due to Sunday's forecast, the University has decided to play a doubleheader
on opening day. Unfortunately, the 3:00 PM first pitch has been pushed to noon, with the second game starting 30-45 minutes after the conclusion of game 1. Saturday's and Monday's games will start as planned, with game 3 starting at 2:00 PM and game 4 starting at noon.
Along with the change in game times, Arkansas also announced that last season's day-1 closer, Gabe Gaekle, will get the nod for game 1. As a freshman, the righty was electric, closing the 2024 season with a 2.32 ERA and seven saves through 42.2 innings. Games 2-4 starters were also released.
Two newcomers, left-handed pitchers Zach Root (East Carolina) and Landon Beidelschies (Ohio State), will take the mound to start games 2 and 4, respectively. Last season's day-2 closer, Gage Wood, will take the first pitch on Saturday for game 3.
