Arkansas All-Americans slighted in AP's All-Time team

Can't believe not a single Razorback was named.

When it comes to All-American teams, the AP stands at the top as the gold standard. This year is the 100th anniversary of the vaunted yearly honor, and the outlet released its all-time All-American Team. Unfortunately, not a single Arkansas football player listed was listed.

Since 1954, the Razorbacks have had 19 players earn the label, including four who've been named twice: defensive linemen Loyd Phillips (1965-66) and Billy Ray Smith (1981-82), followed by offensive tackle Shawn Andrews (2002-03), and running back Darren McFadden (2006-07). However, after reading some of the names, you can't blame the AP for not picking any Hogs.

Instead of choosing from one of these four at their positions between their first- and second-team selections, the AP chose the following:

Defensive Linemen

First-Team: Ndamukong Suh, Nebraska, 2009; Bronko Nagurski, Minnesota, 1929.
Second-Team: LeeRoy Selmon, Oklahoma, 1975; Warren Sapp, Miami, 1994.

Offensive Linemen

First-Team: Orlando Pace, Ohio State, 1995-96; Bill Fralic, Pittsburgh, 1982-83-84.
Second-Team: Jonathan Ogden, UCLA, 1995; Bryant McKinnie, Miami, 2001.

Running Backs

First-Team:
Barry Sanders, Oklahoma State, 1988; Herschel Walker, Georgia, 1980-81-82.
Second-Team: Archie Griffin, Ohio State, 1974-75; Tony Dorsett, Pittsburgh, 1976.

About the only one that may have a case is perhaps the greatest ever to wear the jersey. If McFadden had played four seasons, he might have made the second-team selections. However, as purely a running back, Griffin and Dorsett outpaced the two-time Doak Walker Award winner in yards per season. On the other hand, as all Razorback fans know, he was much more than an RB, passing for 205 yards and seven touchdowns and popularizing the Wildcat formation.
