Arkansas basketball's leading scorer, Adou Thiero, is officially out for the Razorbacks' game against Texas.
During yesterday's press Conference, assistant coach Chuck Martin mentioned Thiero's availability was 'day-to-day' heading into Wednesday's game against the Longhorns.
"He's been taking it day by day," said Martin. "Taking it slowly and trying to make sure that we put him in the best possible positions to continue to improve."
Late yesterday evening, however, the first official SEC availability report dropped for the game, showing the talented forward listed as 'out'. It's a tough loss as Thiero is the team's leading scorer, with 15.6 points a game at a 54.8 percent clip and a team-leading six rebounds.
Along with Thiero was Boogie Fland, who was sidelined with a thumb injury over a month ago. While Fland was an expected sight, there was a third player that's even more concerning.
Although he's listed as 'probable,' Karter Knox being on the injury report isn't what fans want to see. Over the last five games, the freshman has averaged 67.7 percent from the field — 60 percent from the arc — for 10.2 points per game and 4.4 rebounds.
With Thiero out, the team only has seven scholarship players available for Wednesday's game. And with Knox not at full strength, too, it could be a long night for the Hogs. Texas is in the same boat as Arkansas: on the bubble of the NCAA Tournament. The Longhorns desperately need a win after losing to South Carolina on Saturday. Plus, they're looking for revenge after Arkansas beat them in Austin earlier this season.
