The Hog of the Week is keeping up with the vets

Who says the young guys can't keep up?

Many believed that Texas would blow Arkansas out of the water this weekend, including most of the Razorbackers staff. But no one accounted for how well the bye week would benefit the Hogs' defense.

The Longhorns barely move the ball, with six of their eleven drives ending with 30 yards or less. During the break, Travis Williams fixed whatever LSU exposed in Arkansas's secondary, and it caused major problems with Texas' quarterback Quinn Ewers. He threw for 176 yards Saturday, far under the Horns' 288.6-yard average.

It was an entire team effort, too. Five players recorded seven or more tackles, including 4.5 of Arkansas's nine tackles for loss. And of those five, one slightly stood out above the rest.

Linebacker Brad Spence is this week's Hog of the Week. Spence recorded seven tackles, six solo, one tackle for loss, one sack, and a pass deflection. As a true sophomore, his ability to share the load with vets Stephen Dix (nine tackles) and Xavian Sorey (seven tackles) is impressive enough, but recording six solo tackles really spotlights his talent. That's the most solo tackles he's had all season.

We'll see Spence again when the Hogs play their last home game against Louisana Tech on Saturday, November 23. Arkansas will have the chance to earn bowl eligibility with a win before they head into Columbia for the last regular season game against Mizzou.
