Arkansas Football #1 Player to Watch: KJ Jefferson

Putting Jefferson as the number one player to watch for this game feels like a cop-out. But, if we’re being honest, Jefferson is probably the most critical Arkansas football player heading into each game.

The Missouri State game won’t be any different today. The Bears have chosen to pick their poison defensively in two games this year. Central Arkansas ran the ball well but struggled to throw it, while Tennessee-Martin threw for nearly 350 yards and three scores.

In waltzes Jefferson under center behind the strength of an SEC offensive line with the ability to do both on offense. He’s averaging 257 of total offense and three total touchdowns in the two games against Cincinnati and South Carolina.

That’s certainly nothing to sneeze at, but the Jefferson true-believers, the Jefferson-for-Heisman fans, know he has another gear he can get to production-wise. He should be licking his chops at facing a Missouri Valley Conference defense.

The great ones–the All-Americans and the Heisman Candidates–use these games to balloon their stats. Jefferson should be aiming for a crazy 400 yards of total offense and six touchdowns kind of evening.

Go put up NCAA Football 14 numbers, sir!
