Will the Arkansas Basketball team end the career of Duke’s Coach K?

Duke Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski will be retiring at the conclusion of this college basketball season. Whether the Blue Devils win the national championship or lose to Arkansas, it will be the final time we see the legendary coach on the sidelines in college basketball game.

If the Hogs are successful in defeating Duke, they will forever be etched in the history books and video clips as the team that Coach K competed against in his final basketball game.

Everyone loves to hate Duke, but you have to respect what Coach K has done in a supremely successful career.

A former captain in the Army, Coach K got his start as an assistant to another legendary coach in Bob Knight with the Indiana Hoosiers. He went on to be the Head Coach for the Army basketball team.

Kryzewski eventually found his way to Duke in 1980, serving as the school’s head basketball coach and winning 5 national championships in 42 seasons. He also has 3 gold medals on his resume from coaching the senior men’s basketball team in the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympics with the likes of Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.

Arkansas will be the last team Kryzewski ever coaches against, which Hog fans should treat as a huge honor.

Who would the Razorbacks play in the Final Four?

The Arkansas Razorbacks, if successful in upsetting No. 2 Duke in the Elite 8, would advance to the Final Four to play the winner of No. 15 St. Peter’s Peacocks and No. 8 North Carolina.

Cinderella story St. Peter’s has defeated No. 2 Kentucky, No. 7 Murray State and No. 3 Purdue in the March Madness tournament this season.

Arkansas and St. Peter’s have met on two previous occasions, winning both games. The Hogs played the Peacocks in December of 1982 and 1983.

Arkansas has played against UNC 10 times in program history , recording just three wins against the storied team.

The last win against the Tar Heels came in April of 1995 during the Final Four. The Hogs went on to lose to UCLA for the national championship that season.

UNC has defeated No. 9 Marquette, No. 1 Baylor and No. 4 UCLA in this year’s tournament.

Arkansas must first accomplish the monumental task of upsetting the mighty Duke Blue Devils March 26 in the Elite 8.
