Position: CB
Grade: 65 (average)
40 YD: 4.55
Vertical: NA

One of the best defenders in the SEC last season, Montaric Brown looks to extend his career with an NFL team.

The Ashdown, Ark. native recorded 6 pass deflections and 5 interceptions last season, stepping up in a big way after star defender Jalen Catalon went down with a season-ending injury.

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein believes Brown has a chance to play, but will struggle against bigger and faster NFL receivers.

“Projects as an instinctive zone corner with good strength but a lack of desired top-end speed,” the expert wrote. “Brown has a nose for short and intermediate pattern breaks and plays with outstanding body control. He also has soft hands to take the ball away when he’s in position. He’s going to struggle to handle vertical speed and shifty route runners, so a zone-based coverage scheme is more likely to suit him as a pro. He’s a willing run supporter whose ball skills and instincts might get him a look at safety if he can carry enough weight.”

NFL.com projects Brown as an “average backup or special teamer.”
