Arkansas Football player Jalen Catalon has announced his plans for 2022
The Arkansas Football team and Razorback fans finally learned more about Jalen Catalon’s status for 2022 when he tweeted a video announcement Dec. 14.
Catalon, a redshirt sophomore out of Mansfield, Texas revealed that he’s returning for at least one more season with the Razorbacks.
The defensive back, who was a 2020 Phil Steele Third-Team All American and a 2020 AP First Team All-SEC, had an injury-shorted 2021 season.
Despite the injury, Catalon was able to make appearances in six games, recording 46 tackles, two interceptions and four pass deflections.
In his announcement video, Catalon gave a virtual love letter to Razorback fans, saying that he’s going to put his NFL dreams on hold to come back and continue building Arkansas into the powerhouse he knows it can be.
Here’s what Catalon said in the video, which he tweeted on the afternoon of Dec. 14.
"Hey Arkansas,This place has been a second home for me since I arrived in 2019. The love and support from my coaches and the great fans here have been second to none. The relationships and accolades made on and off the field have been something I’ll forever be proud of and cherish.Every time I step foot on the field, all I want to do is put my best foot forward and wear that Razorback logo with pride and honor. My family always told me: follow your heart and just enjoy the journey. And that journey will continue here."
You can see the video in its entirety in the tweet above.
Catalon would have likely been a later-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Him coming back to the Hogs is a win-win situation.
Next season’s roster is looking like it’ll have a fair amount of returning players, despite Treylon Burks having already committed to the draft.
