With a massive win against Mississippi State, the Arkansas football team is now eligible to be inviting to their first bowl game since 2016.

In football terms, that was eons ago— five years, three coaches and one downtrodden fan base.

That last bowl appearance in 2016 was the Belk Bowl and featured the Hogs taking on Virginia Tech. Arkansas lost that game and put into motion the eventual exit of former head coach Bret Bielema.

What are the latest Arkansas bowl game projections?

The Hogs have a nice resume and can improve the bowl game they are invited to with a couple of more wins. Right now the Razorback resume features wins against:

  • Rice (3-6)
  • Texas (4-5)
  • Georgia Southern (2-7)
  • Texas A&M (7-2)
  • AR-Pine Bluff (2-7)
  • Mississippi State (5-4)

There are several distinct possibilities now that the Razorbacks have won six games. Let’s see what some where some of the experts currently project the Hogs to play come bowl season.

First up is a projection from CBS Sports.

Arkansas football vs Penn State, Music City Bowl

This is currently a projection from CBS Sports and their comprehensive bowl projections.

This would be a terrific matchup for the Razorbacks. Arkansas does not often get a chance to play teams from the Big Ten, so it would be a nice game from that standpoint.

Penn State is a traditional powerhouse that is always seems to be competitive and in contention for the Big Ten title picture. They were ranked as high as No. 4 in the AP Top 25 rankings earlier in the season.

According to Winipedia, the Nittny Lions have the fifth-best bowl game record of all-time. They are 30-16-2 in bowl games and 908-401-42 overall, giving them the ninth best record in the history of college football.

Furthermore, there doesn’t seem to be a record of the Razorbacks and Penn State ever meeting in a football game. A lot of people would be excited to see this matchup.
