No 2. Dominique Johnson will excel as a starter against the Bulldogs

Head Coach Sam Pittman recently announced Dominque Johnson had been impressing coaches in the 39 total carries he’s gotten this season.

The redshirt freshman has been great whenever he’s got the ball in his hands and Pittman thought they had a plan to get him more carries. It hasn’t worked out that way.

Pittman and his staff have decided to start Johnson in this game against Mississippi State to ensure he touches the ball more than a handful of times in the game.

“He’s got to get more carries,” Pittman said earlier this week according to Pig Trail Nation. “He’s a guy that’s running over people, making people miss, and he needs to get more carries. Whatever that is, he needs a lot more carries. I thought we had that figured out, but we didn’t. I’m positive we’ve got it figured out.

So far this season, Johnson has racked up 309 rushing yards and four touchdowns. He had a season-high 91 yards against UAPB.

Johnson will get some help from Trelon Smith to wear down a very tough run defense this week. The Bulldogs allow just 89.6 rushing yards per game and the Hogs have steamrolled teams for nearly 250 yards per game.

Expect the Razorbacks depth at running back to overpower an excellent run defense.

If the Hogs can make this a battle of trenches, they’ll get their sixth win of the season and become bowl-eligible.
