No 4. Justin Fuente, Head Coach at Virginia Tech

Justin Fuente is currently the coach at Virginia Tech, but most college football experts have him as being on the hot seat. He has a ton of experience at various levels, so he may be able to find a gig as a Head Coach at a smaller school should he choose to go that route.

If not, Fuente would be a great choice for the Hogs. He played quarterback in college for Murray State and Oklahoma in the late 1990s. He served as quarterback coach for Illinois State and later TCU. He’s been the head coach at Memphis and now Virginia Tech.

Fuente seems like a long shot, but would be a splashy hire for the Hogs.

No 5. Matt Wells, former Head Coach at Texas Tech

If Kendal Briles is hired as the next coach at Teas Tech, why not take is predecessor as our OC? Matt Wells has coached offense for various teams and various skill positions over the years: Navy, Tulsa, New Mexico and Utah State.

Wells was eventually hired as Head Coach of Utah State before being lured away by Texas Tech in 2019. He was twice named the Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year (2013, 2018) and is an offense-minded coach.

He played quarterback in college for Utah State, passing for more than 2,000 yards and throwing 11 touchdowns in the early 1990s.
