Allen, who serves as backup quarterback to starter Joe Burrow for the Cincinnati Bengals, saw some rare game-time action this week against the Detroit Lions.

With the Bengals up 27-3 and 8:32 left in the ball game, Head Coach Zac Taylor called on Brandon Allen to enter the game at quarterback.

Allen ended up playing 13 snaps and finished the game 1 for 1 for 7 yards and 1 touchdown, which put Cincinnati up 34-3. Detroit would go on to score another touchdown to make the game 34-11.

After receiving the ball on a kickoff, Brandon Allen simply snapped the ball three times to run out the clock and clinch the fourth win of the season for the Bengals.

It wasn’t a flashy performance for Allen, but he made the most of his first snaps of the 2021 season.

Last season Allen filled in for an injured Joe Burrow, leading the Bengals to a 1-4 record. He finished the season completing 90 for 142 passes for 925 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Expect Allen to see limited game action this season, unless he must fill-in for starter Burrow.

Allen was selected number 201 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
