This week, we’re taking a look at a former Arkansas Football player who had an excellent game for the Detroit Lions during NFL Week 5.

Our #ProHogs player of the week this week played defensive line and defensive end for the Hogs from 2011-2014 under coaches Bobby Petrino, John L. Smith and Brett Bielema.

He was drafted 101 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.

Former Arkansas Football player Trey Flowers is our #ProHogs player of the week from NFL Week 5

Flowers, now in his third season with the Detroit Lions, made a big impact in the game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Trey Flowers was on the field for 78% of eligible snaps this week and produced a big stat line. The DE recorded 4 solo tackles, 1 assisted tackle and sacked Vikings QB Kirk Cousins one time. He was only one of two Lions to record a sack this week.

Unfortunately, the superb effort by Flowers was not enough as the Lions fell 17-19 to the Vikings. The Lions are still searching for their first win of the 2021 NFL season.

Flowers and the Lions host the Cincinnati Bengals Oct. 17 at home in Week 6.

Honorable mention: Hunter Henry, TE for New England Patriots

Patriots tight end Hunter Henry was our #ProHogs player of the week last week and he made a strong case to repeat this week.

Against the Houston Texans, Henry caught a season-high 6 passes for a season-high 75 yards and a touchdown.

His touchdown came at the perfect time, too. Henry caught a 13 yard pass from rookie QB Mac Jones to tie the game at 22-22 with 9:31 left in the game. The Patriots went on to win 25-22, improving to 2-3 on the season.
