Staying on the defensive side of the ball this week on the Arkansas Razorbacks’ recruiting breakdown, we look at linebacker Jermaine Hamilton-Jordan.

Adding Barry Odom to the coaching staff has helped the Hogs tremendously on the field and in recruiting. Recruiting Hamilton-Jordan and securing his commitment is something important for the Arkansas Razorbacks when you are looking at the depth of the linebacker position. Grant Morgan and Bumper Pool have each done a terrific job at the starting linebacker spots but find the guys to fill their shoes is something that needs to be done now.

Hamilton-Jordan will bring to the Hogs an aggressive linebacker. He is on every tackle and has developed a nose for the football. The area that impresses people the most about Hamilton-Jordan is his ability to stretch the play out wide and make the tackle. He has the speed to bring down the ball carrier and is rarely left in the dust.

To get consistent playing time on Saturdays, Hamilton-Jordan is going to have to put some weight on his frame. At 6-1 and 195 lbs he has the height to play the position, but adding about 20 pounds would help him out a great deal in the SEC. Hamilton-Jordan is physical enough and hits hard enough to make an impact in the SEC. It all just boils down to getting him stronger and he would have the potential to be a star in the SEC.

Hamilton-Jordan has been an Arkansas Razorbacks commit since early May. He chose Arkansas over such schools as Kansas State, Kansas, and Iowa State. Hamilton-Jordan could see some playing time next season, but I would expect Arkansas to redshirt him and give him a year to develop before throwing him into SEC play. Fans can expect Arkansas to close out the 2021 recruiting season with heavy focus on the defensive side of the ball. Arkansas fans should be pleased the football team is continuing to trend upward in recruiting and on the field.
