The Arkansas Razorback Football program took their third loss of the season on Saturday to Texas A&M. The Razorbacks were able to improve in areas, and loose in others.

The Razorbacks have shown much improvement throughout the entire season. At the halfway point, they look much better than the team we saw to start the season. However a few things have not looked to good over the past few weeks, especially in this last game. Here are the real “Losers” from this past loss to the Aggies.

Pass Rush Defense

The Razorback pass rush was just not there this past Saturday. The front four under played expectations, considering the things we have seen them do. Defensive Lineman Johnathan Marshal lead the defensive line in tackles with three. Not one single player on the defensive side of the ball had a quarterback hurry or a sack. If the defense wants to keep playing at a high level, it needs to start with the ability to get to the quarterback.

Razorback Secondary

The Razorback secondary was a huge problem in this game. All season they have been the bright spot, as they have forced nearly 13 turnovers so far this season. Against Texas A&M, they could not cover the speed A&M had at every position.

Jalen Wydermyer of Texas A&M had a field day with the Razorback defensive backs. He finished with 92 yards and two touchdowns.

Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond didn’t have an amazing day in terms of passing yardage, but he was nearly perfect in his attempts. Mind went 21 for 26 throwing the ball, and had three passing touchdowns. That type of consistency just can not happen. It looked as if Mond was able to do whatever he wanted because of the space his receivers were able to create.

Yes, Jalen Catalon left the game early due to a targeting ejection. However, that one player should not be the sole reason for so many blown coverages. Jalen Catalon is a great player, but the hog defense has to step up when he isn’t on the field.
