The Arkansas Razorback football team played the Ole Miss Rebels this past Saturday in a game that saw the hogs winning.

The Arkansas Razorbacks played the Rebels in week four of SEC play, and came out swinging. After last weeks terrible call that would give Auburn the win, the Razorbacks had something to prove in this game. The last two years of the Ole Miss rivalry have been owned by the rebels, but this time was something much different.
The Razorbacks play much different under Sam Pittman. They play hard, and they play with a passion, which is something we didn’t see a lot during Chad Morris’s time here. Going into this game, the hogs were an underdog, like always. But the Razorbacks want their respect, and they want it now. Here are three things I took away from the big win this past Saturday.
Barry Odom’s Defense is incredible
This Hog defense played their tails off against an Ole Miss offense that has been very explosive this season. Ole Miss was coming into this game off of a good offensive performance against Alabama, were they put up 48 points in a loss. The rebels were averaging 41 points a game, and nearly 600 total yards before their meeting with the hogs. The Razorbacks obviously didn’t care about the numbers, as they held Ole Miss to zero points at the half, with a 20 point lead. It all started on the first offensive possession for the rebels, were quarterback Matt Corral would fumble and Freshman Jalen Catalon would recover. A few possessions later, the Razorback defense would intercept Corral and setup the offense for an eventual field goal. The next defensive possession the hogs would have a pick six. All of these big defensive plays happening in just the first quarter, while all of them led to a score. The Razorback defense forced seven turnovers in a huge game.
Treylon Burks is a monster

If you haven’t seen the viral touchdown catch that Treylon Burks made this past Saturday, I urge you to go check it out. That’s not the only thing Burks did good this week. After not playing at all against Auburn due to an injury, Treylon would come in and dominate Ole Miss. He was involved in the passing and rushing game, putting up really good numbers in both. Eleven receptions for 137 yards and a touchdown is the eye popping stat line you will see first. Before you close out your box score, take a look at what he did on the ground. Burks rushed for 46 yards on four attempts. If they continue to get him evolved in different ways, this offense will have no option but to get in a rhythm.

Offense is still struggling

The Razorback offense still struggled in this game. The hogs were forced to punt seven times in this game, and had a couple of turnovers. Arkansas struggled to get into the red zone without the help of good field position. We still have not seen the breakout game from Rakeem Boyd yet this season as well. While Treylon Burks played good, it is hard to find other positives on this offense. Felipe Franks is definitely better than the quarterbacks of the past few years, but he needs to improve on a lot of things as well. However, I do think the offense will find a rhythm during their off week. They will have plenty of time to figure some things out.
