Arkansas Razorbacks Football Recruiting: Offensive Tackle Terry Wells
By Tommy Tabler
To win in Arkansas consistently, the Arkansas Razorbacks must recruit the state of Arkansas.
Offensive tackle Terry Wells fits the Arkansas Razorbacks’ mold to a tee. Wynne High School has produced its fair share of division 1 talent. Terry Wells plays two sports occupying a spot on the offensive and defensive line as well as being an impressive shot putter. The Razorbacks have placed an emphasis on recruiting offensive linemen that Sam Pittman and his staff can develop into SEC starters. Wells has become one of the state’s most highly sought-after prospects.
From a run blocking perspective, Wells is everything coaches look for in an offensive lineman. The attribute that is going to stick out to Arkansas Razorback fans is just how quick Wells is in attacking the defender and creating a hole for the running back. Wells gives the Razorbacks depth on the offensive line which is something that is going to be sorely needed.
An area that will be improved upon once he arrives in Fayetteville is the pass blocking technique. Wynne High School runs the flex bone, so Wells has not been able to develop his pass blocking technique at an SEC level. However, pass blocking can be taught and that will be the job of the Razorback staff to make sure Wells develops at a high rate.
The rebuild is on at Arkansas and making sure players like Terry Wells do not leave the state of Arkansas is going to be key for how quickly Pittman can get things fixed. With offers from Miami and Mississippi State, Arkansas did an impressive job of securing Wells verbal commitment. Arkansas has work to do on the offensive side of the ball but adding players like Wells can only spell good things down the road for the Razorbacks.
