The Arkansas Razorbacks are fortunate to be well stocked at the wide receiver position for the 2020 season.

Sam Pittman may have holes to fill at other positions, however no position is as deep as the wide receiver position for the Razorbacks this season. Evaluating the depth at the wide receiver position is needed, simply because of the number of injuries that can spring up, as well as COVID-19. The wide receiver position for the Arkansas Razorbacks has a good mix of guys that can stretch the field deep as well as guys that can work the short and intermediate routes.

First, we are going to examine the playmakers and deep threats for the Hogs. Last season, Mike Woods led the team in receptions with 33 and four receiving touchdowns. Woods has displayed impressive speed and will cause problems for opposing SEC cornerbacks that underestimate his speed. Woods is durable having started 22 games over the course of his career and has an excellent chance at seeing plenty of action in 2020.

Warren High School has produced another talented wide receiver for the Razorbacks, in the form of Treylon Burks. Burks is a playmaker all over the field for the Hogs. Burks has the speed to create separation as well as the size to go up and high point the football. Burks earned all-SEC Freshman honors last season. Burks has the potential to have a productive season after racking up 475 receiving yards and 29 receptions last season. The potential Burks has for a big season will depend heavily on the system Kendall Briles has put into place with Arkansas.

Trey Knox is a legitimate red zone threat with the size to be a nightmare for opposing cornerbacks. Knox is a receiver that should be used more effectively this season. Last season, Knox hauled in 28 receptions for 385 yards and three touchdowns. At 6-5, Knox has the size and talent to be a matchup nightmare for opposing defensive coordinators. Knox, Burks, and Woods all should have the opportunity to stretch the field and make defenses account for them.

Names to watch that will see snaps this year in the receiving corps are Koilan Jackson, TJ Hammonds, Kendall Catalon, Tyson Morris, and De’Vion Warren. Hammonds and Warren have displayed the ability to stretch the field and excellent speed in previous seasons. Morris, Jackson, and Catalon will all have the opportunity to see a number of snaps this season. The wide receiver position is deep, but it is young when looking at the depth it has. As long as the offense makes strides to improve this season, fans will have the chance to see the explosive plays that the offense has been lacking since the Bobby Petrino days.
