Davonte Davis commits to Razorback Basketball
The Razorback Basketball team garnered a commitment for the class of 2020 over the weekend.
Davonte Davis of Jacksonville High School in Arkansas is the first athlete to commit to first-year Coach Eric Musselman and the Hogs for the 2020 class.
Davis, a 6-4 guard, decommited from the Oklahoma State Cowboys almost two weeks ago, took an unofficial visit to Fayetteville for the Red-White game at Barnhill Arena last Saturday, was officially offered by the Razorbacks last Wednesday, and made his commitment decision on Saturday in a video via Twitter.
The future Razorback began the video stating, “I would like to thank God for blessing me with the talent to play the game I cherish.”
“I want to thank my family for their love and support as I chase my dreams. Thank you to my friends for always helping me keep my eye on the prize. To the Arkansas Wings and Woodz, you made it possible. To the college coaches that recruited me, you are first class men that I admire and learned so much from during this process, thank you. To my coaches, thanks for trusting me to lead your team. To my teammates, the blood, sweat and tears have made us brothers forever. And to my trainers that tough me to grind at game speed…”
Davis added, “The opportunity to play college basketball is my dream, winning Championships is the prize. A wise man one said Home is where the Heart is. It will be a privilege to play for coaches that will demand excellence and accountability. It’s a dream come true to take a legend’s court and hear the greatest fans in the world as they ‘Call those Hogs.’ I am so excited today to announce that I will play college basketball for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Let’s do this Arkansas. Go Hogs.”
With his commitment to Arkansas, Davis has chose the Razorbacks over the Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, Oregon Ducks, SMU Mustangs, OSU Cowboys, Ole Miss Rebels, Texas Tech Raiders, and quite a few others.
Davis is listed as a four-star athlete by 247Sports Composite, as the #16 top point guard in the class of 2020 in the nation, and as the #98 top overall player in the nation within the class of 2020. In the state of Arkansas, Davis is ranked #3 in the class of 2020 behind Jaylin Williams of Fort Smith Northside and KK Robinson of Bryant.
