Arkansas Razorbacks basketball is on the rise and that’s thanks in part to Trey Thompson.

As the Arkansas Razorbacks basketball team gets ready to head to Gainesville, let’s take a minute and look at one player in particular. This player had a little bit of a slow start to the season but as of late is on fire.

Junior forward Trey Thompson has emerged as a force to be reconned with. I was in the crowd that was wondering if he would find his role on this year’s squad.

For most of the season, Thompson just didn’t seem to get it. He only averaged 2.2 points per game, 1.3 assists per game and 1.8 rebounds per game in an average of 12 minutes per game.

It was clear that Mike Anderson didn’t think that Trey was ready for big chunks of minutes. Fans began to question if he would work out this season or if not now, would he ever?

The last four games have made people see a whole new Razorback team. Arkansas had taken bad losses earlier in the season and us as fans and much of those who cover the team thought they were down for the count. That was until they blew up.

Now Thompson has risen to the challenge and helped his team to reach a 5 game win streak. He has pretty much doubled all his stats including his minutes per game. Mike Anderson may not have felt too comfortable with him earlier but it’s clear in the last four games, Anderson likes what he sees.

As he should, though. Thompson is a passing machine that helps create open shots, as well as step up on defense. He is helping the offense find points and helping the defense while creating turnovers. Woo pig.
