Ty Talks: Arkansas Razorbacks Basketball and Mike Anderson
In this edition of Ty Talks, Tyzilla discusses Arkansas Razorbacks basketball and Mike Anderson.
Arkansas Razorbacks basketball and Mike Anderson are both hot topics in Arkansas right now. It’s not something that happened overnight but this year truly began as a powder keg.
Going into the season, fans had extremely high hopes for coach Mike Anderson in his sixth season. Out of his first five seasons, he only managed to get the Hogs to one NCAA Tournament.
When Anderson was hired, the fanbase, the media and I expected things to go a lot differently. He had success at UAB and Missouri, taking both on a deep tournament run before coming here.
I mean, for Arkansas it was a homecoming when Anderson returned to the program. His time under Nolan and being on the staff for the championship team made him a perfect fit for the Razorbacks.
It was supposed to be the Nolan era coming full circle with the return of Anderson and his “40 Minutes of Hell” renamed “The Fastest 40” style play. We all believed that we would be returning to the golden age of Hog hoops and Anderson was the chosen one to lead us there.
The golden age we thought was coming still hasn’t arrived and some are wondering if it will under Anderson. This season was one for the books just a few games ago. Like Ty says in his video, this is the best start to a season since the 95 season. Now we went from the best start in 21 years to discussions debating if they could POSSIBLY make the tournament this season.
Kind of like the football program, the basketball program is a perfect example of “As above, so below.” The inconsistencies of the seasons under Mike Anderson are a macrocosm to the in-game inconsistencies on a microcosmic level.
