The rumors are circulating about Robb Smith heading to Wake Forest but are they true?

It isn’t shocking that the rumors are saying that Robb Smith is leaving Arkansas but it doesn’t seem to be true. Earlier on Friday, multiple media outlets were reporting that sources were saying that Smith was taking the defensive coordinator position at Wake Forest.

About an hour after the initial reports, Bo Mattingly tweeted he had talked to Smith and said the reports were untrue. We have seen this kind of thing happen too many times to count. Sources say that a coach has left, whereas the coach himself says that he hasn’t taken said job. So many times, a day or so later it comes out that it was true the whole time. Could this be one of those cases?

The Rumors Shouldn’t Shock Anyone

As you can see, multiple credible outlets have been reporting on these rumors. It wouldn’t catch anyone off guard that he has left after these last two seasons. Quite frankly, Arkansas fans, including myself, have had enough of the defensive product he has put on the field.

This season had record setting numbers for the Hogs but not in a good way. The Auburn game was the worst rushing defensive effort in school history as the Tigers ran for 543 yards in the 56-3 beatdown. It was the most ever rushing yards Arkansas had given up in school history.

The final game of the season was another failure as the Hogs gave up a 24 point lead in the Belk Bowl to Virginia Tech. This game set another record for the program as it was the worst blown lead since sometime in the 1950’s for Arkansas. It was, however, the biggest comeback in program history for Virginia Tech.

I’ve said multiple times that I don’t expect Robb Smith to be here next year and I’m not alone with this idea. Many media members that cover Arkansas have said the same thing but as for right now, these reports appear to be false.

Like I said, it could very well be true but Smith is just denying it as it isn’t finalized yet. We will know more in the next day or so and I’ll keep you posted as information becomes available. Just hang in there fellow Arkansas fans. Woo pig!
