The 2016-17 Razorback men’s basketball SEC schedule has been released.  At a glance, it looks like it’ll be a fun year but there seems to be something missing.

On Tuesday the University released its men’s SEC basketball schedule via Twitter. The first thing to notice is that for the first time since Arkansas joined the SEC the Hogs will start SEC play against Florida in Bud Walton. After which the Razorbacks hop on the plane for back to back road games at Tennessee and Kentucky.

Many fans get this far down the list and start trying to find the home game with the Wildcats. After scrolling up and down the games, the realization hits that there is no home and home with Kentucky. It’s at this moment that Arkansas Athletic Director, Jeff Long’s Twitter notification sounds.

This fan wasn’t the only person to take to Twitter over the issue. Other fans and media members pointed out that Kentucky would not be making their way to Bud Walton this season.

So why do Hog fans care so much about playing Kentucky at home? All over one recruit from the great state of Arkansas, Malik Monk. Monk, who was a five-star superstar from here in the state, disappointed many fans by choosing BBN over his native Razorbacks.

I do agree with the tweet from WOOPIGSOOOIE . Arkansas is a program that once was something great. Since the end of the Nolan Richardson era, it has been a bumpy downhill ride to irrelevance. If the Hogs want to get back to national relevance, a home and home against Kentucky is a must.

It feels like a long way away until basketball but I am already getting excited. Mike Anderson has taken a lot of heat this past year and I am ready to see how he responds. I fully expect the Hogs to get to the NCAA tournament this year. Fingers Crossed and WOO PIG!
