It’s that time of the year, Hog fans. There’s no football, no basketball, and no baseball happening, leaving us without anything to argue about except politics. During the down season, it’s easy to fall behind on Arkansas Razorbacks news. That’s why we are here…to help keep you informed.
Hogs Land Running Back Recruit from Florida
Maleek Williams, a 3 star running back out of Florida, committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks after visiting campus last week. The 6’1, 215 pound back had just been offered by Tennessee and Illinois before coming to Fayetteville.
Many fans are looking at the Hogs early commits and are counting stars…3 of them, to be exact. Arkansas has 10 hard commits for next year, and none of them are ranked higher than 3 stars.
However, anyone that has somewhat followed recruiting knows that once these recruits are reevaluated before their senior season, the liklihood of them all staying a 3 star is pretty slim. In fact, I’d say there is a much higher chance that Bielema got in early on some high quality talent, and is just moving faster than the recruiting services.
Arkansas Women’s Track and Field Win National Championship
The Lady Razorbacks dominated the last day of the nation outdoor track and field championship, scoring more points in 2 hours than they did in all the previous days combined, to come from behind and win the championship.
During the 2015-16 season, Arkansas women’s track and field collected an NCAA national title (outdoor), an NCAA national runner-up (indoor), an NCAA top-10 finish (cross country) and swept the Southeastern Conference titles.

Arkansas Basketball Adds Home and Home with Houston
It must be a sign of real confidence in this team that Mike Anderson and his staff are adding some legitimately talented and strong programs. The Arkansas Razorbacks and the Houston Cougars will meet in Bud Walton on December 6th, and the second game will take place at a currently unnamed date.
Houston is now part of a non-conference schedule that includes Texas, Oklahoma State, and Minnesota. This is the kind of non-conference schedule that gets a team into the NCAA tournament. It also is the kind of schedule that is made by a coach and program that is pretty confident about their abilities.
I’m not predicting that Mike and this JUCO boosted team are going to win a Natty or anything…but it does make me feel good to see him putting the squad out there with confidence like this.
Jarrion Lawson Gives a Legendary Individual Performance
Jarrion Lawson, the Arkansas Razorbacks senior captain from Texarkana, Texas, did something that hadn’t been accomplished in 80 years. He won 3 different individual events at the NCAA Track and Field Championship in Eugene, Oregon.
By winning the 100 meter dash, the 200, and the long jump, Lawson joins the one and only Jesse Owens, who accomplished the feats in 1935 and 1936, as the only 2 men to have won those events in the same meet.
Lawson was recently named an All-American at the 100, 200, 400 relay, and the long jump, making him a 19 time All-American. It was also the second year in a row that he won 4 different All-American honors. It was a legendary cap to a brilliant career as a Razorback for Lawson.
