After being called up just a short time ago, former Arkansas baseball player Brett Eibner has been impressive in his first few games as a Kansas City Royal.
It’s always nice to see a Hog make it in the Pros. Most recently, former Omahog Brett Eibner made his MLB debut with the Kansas City Royals.
Eibner was drafted out of Arkansas by Kansas City in the second round of the 2010 MLB draft after he posted 22 home runs and a .333 average his junior season. Just a few days ago, after spending 4 years of A/AA ball and two more years of AAA, he was finally called up to The Show due to an injury to Kansas City third baseman Mike Moustakas.
A rainout canceled Thursday’s series opener against the Chicago White Sox, but Eibner finally made his debut in Friday’s game.
In his third at-bat, the now official Pro Hog recorded his first MLB hit. Then after the game, he got a little ice bath from the other Royal players.

Eibner finished his first MLB game going 1 for 4.
But the fun didn’t stop there.
Let’s skip ahead to the bottom of the ninth in game 2. The Chicago White Sox led the Royals 7-1. Eibner doubled to right field to help get things started for Kansas City. After a mix of walks and a few other hits, the Royals made it a 7-5 game. Then a double to center field would clear the bases making it a 7-7 tie ballgame. Two batters were intentionally walked, forcing the bases loaded with two outs for none other than Brett Eibner.
Take a look at the video below to watch what happened next (SPOILER ALERT: it’s totally awesome).
Eibner’s first career walk-off hit came in just his second career MLB game. It takes true talent (and maybe a little bit of luck) to pull that off.
Brett Eibner’s third career game just topped off his impressive debut. He went 2-for-3 as Kansas City completed the sweep over the Chicago White Sox and making his average .455 through three games. Razorback fans hope that this only means a great future for the former Hog. In fact, if it were legal I’d want him back in an Arkansas uniform now. We need all the help we can get.
Woo Pig.
