Saturday Night Live’s 41st season came to an end last night. To wrap up the show, host Fred Armisen and the rest of the cast members played a southern rock band. The song they performed was about summertime in none other than Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Yes there are lots of Fayettevilles in this world. In fact, Arkansas, Illinois, Georgia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas, Tennessee, New York, and North Carolina all have cities by that name. But we all know which one is the greatest. That’s right, the one closest to our hearts is undoubtedly the most supreme Fayetteville in all of the land. Plus, it’s the only time having a town full of pigs is a good thing.

Although Fayetteville is a fantastic place (and voted as the best affordable place to live in the country), you don’t expect a lot of media attention to come from it. You especially don’t want to hear that NBC’s Saturday Night Live has been talking about The Natural State. Since the show’s airing, a few jokes have poked fun at us Arkansans as if we all live in roofless contraptions made up of a few 2 x 4s and some Jesus statues. But Saturday night was different.

SNL’s Season 41 finale was coming to a close, and the entire cast came out as a southern rockish band called “The Harkin Brothers”. Host Fred Armisen started by saying “Who here is from Fayetteville, Arkansas?”  To no response, the entire cast begins performing their song titled “Summertime in Fayetteville”

Whether this segment was meant to yet again poke fun at us is left unanswered (if it was, shame on them for not trying harder). But either way, it doesn’t take away the catchy tune.

Here are the full lyrics:

Frogs are jumping up onto the lily pads

I’m eating plates of honey ham all day

Commuting via tire into a swimming hole

Arkansas is calling out my name

Hot, hot summertime

Nothing like a nap in a burned out pickup truck

Fireflies fly right into my mouth

Running barefoot on a pile of rocks and stones

Then I see Henrietta

Henrietta

Get up here

Summertime in Fayetteville

Hot hot summertime
