Other Country Singers Weigh in on Arkansas Razorbacks and Conference Realignment
By Cory Thone
Earlier this week, the artist formerly known as Chris Gaines weighed in with his opinion that Arkansas should go back to the Big 12. This started a trend of country music stars weighing in on college football across the nation.
In a press release announcing his upcoming tour dates, one country music star was asked his opinion on where the Arkansas Razorbacks should go now that the SEC is being dissolved. “Well, I’ve always wanted to see an in-state rivalry form with Arkansas and Arkansas State. It’s super important that these two teams play because the internet says so.”
When asked why he thinks Arkansas would ever take such a huge step down in conference affiliation, the singer shrugged and said “I don’t know. It’s better than going to the Big 12, though.”
For some reason this week, country musicians and singers have started chiming in on the game of college football, and their opinions on some changes that should be made. No one knows why the trend started, but it can be traced back to Garth Brooks’ comments about Arkansas returning to the Big 12. Arkansas AD Jeff Long was quick to respond to the singer on Twitter.
The trend continued last week, with one unnamed country singer commenting that “everyone should just be cool to each other.” This singer, a long time vocal support of [insert team], had his own opinion of how to shake up conferences as well.
“I think we should just merge every conference into one big super conference. And then play all the games in Florida near a beach. Cause that’s where everybody likes to be and then we could all just be totally cool bros and I could wear just one shirt for the national conference and say I’m a fan of every team. Then everyone would love me.”

The last thing that I ever thought I’d write about is a 90s country singers opinion on hypothetical conference realignments for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Has anyone asked Florida-Georgia Line what their opinions about Notre Dame being independent are?
