It may not have been a very entertaining game to watch, but Dave Van Horn’s Razorback baseball team got it done against Eastern Illinois. The Hogs bounced back from a loss to Louisiana Tech, to beat the Panthers 5-2.

Being someone who used to play baseball but hasn’t watched in a very, very long time, this Razorback baseball team has given me the itch to get back into the game. The Hogs didn’t do anything spectacular in their win today over Eastern Illinois. However as they say, “A win is a win.”

After getting scorched by the pitching LA Tech threw, it seemed the Hogs were still not there mentally at bat. Grant Koch finally broke the Hogs through in the bottom of the third, with his first home run as a Razorback, to go up 1-0. Hey would tie Jake Arledge to lead the Hogs at bat with 2 hits each. Carson Shaddy ended the game with 2 RBI.

On the other side of the ball, Dominic Taccolini pitched a great game. He threw for 5 innings giving up only 2 runs.  This game makes the 3rd straight start for Taccolini in which he has only allowed two runs or less and the 9th game of the year.

Next: Hogs Get Hot Late

The Diamond Hogs are set to play the Panthers again tomorrow for game two at noon. It will be interesting to watch this team develop throughout the year. This is already one of the best power hitting teams we’ve seen in Fayetteville in quite some time, and it’s still so early in the year. If the Diamond Hogs can stay in this type of groove, they will be tough to stop this year.

Woo Pig.
