Grade: D-

I was so close to giving Tretola a F too. But don’t worry, I’m not that big of a monster.

Sebastian Tretola, it’s hard not to love him. There will always be a soft spot for the 6-4 314 pound mammoth out of California. Really it’s hard not to love any of our offensive linemen. They are part of the reason that Arkansas had the biggest offensive line in the world.

So in turn it only made sense that they also gave me the biggest disappointment in the world: their performance at the combine.

You already read the previous grade on Denver Kirkland, which was a F. The only reason Tretola did not give that same grade was due to the fact that he did a little bit better than Kirkland, so it’s only right that he gets a little bit better of a grade.

But that does not mean he gets a nicer criticism. Because when I say that Tretola did a little bit better than Kirkland, I mean it.

Out of the 46 linemen in the forty yard dash, Tretola finished 42nd with a time of 5.45 seconds. In the bench press, Tretola had 22 reps, tying him for 30th overall.

What Tretola did significantly better than Kirkland in was the three cone drill. Tretola finished the cone drill in 7.94 seconds, ranking him at 26th among the offensive linemen. That ranking was Sebastian’s best of the day.

Tretola performing the way he did at the combine was more disappointing than Kirkland. This was only because Tretola had the chance to be a high draft pick. Many sites have Tretola as one of the top 5 guards, and even see him as a possible second or third round pick. Honestly I will still see him getting that selection. This combine may not have helped Tretola’s draft stock, but I don’t really think it hurt it significantly. He is a lovable, witty, and outspoken player, and a lot of NFL teams that have met with him so far see that. And let’s not forget he was up for the freaking Heisman in 2014.
