It happens to the best of us. You get busy during the week, and you just miss out on some stories or news about the Arkansas Razorbacks. That’s why we’re here, to make sure that you stay informed about this past week in Hog.

It’s not your fault that you didn’t see these stories this week. Some of them were under reported by sites like us, while others were just lost in the news day commotion. While you sit there on your phone waiting for your table to open up at whatever restaurant you’re having Valentine’s dinner at, you can catch up on all those stories now.

Arkansas Basketball Tickets are on Sale

That’s right! Hog basketball tickets are on sale, which is totally normal and you shouldn’t read into it that much! For the last 4 home games, you can take advantage of a “buy one, get one” promotion. Meaning, that if you buy one ticket to a men’s basketball game, you’ll get another ticket absolutely free!

I know that a lot of you cynics out there will use this as a sign for how bad of shape the program is in right now. But with the cost of football tickets going up, you should be happy to be able to get affordable tickets to see the Arkansas Razorbacks basketball team play at home, where they usually win! Just…don’t go to any road games.

Speaking of ticket costs…

Arkansas Football Ticket Prices Go Up

This is just part of it, folks. Everybody wants to fill in the open end of the stadium, right? Well, this is how you do it. The University of Arkansas announced last week that the price for some tickets would be going up. And they weren’t lying. The cost for most seats went up, while a few places stayed the same.

I’ve heard a lot of people complaining about it, and I get it. It’s super expensive to get season tickets already, and they just went up higher. But they’re still lower than pretty much every other SEC charges, and there hasn’t been a substantial cost increase since 2009-2010.

You can read Jeff Long’s letter about the cost increase here.

Shelby Hiers Hits Walk-Off Grand Slam

Arkansas Softball made the SportsCenter Top 10 this week (at #3!) thanks to this huge shot by Shelby Hiers. The 5’7 junior catcher from Quitman, Georgia dug in and absolutely crushed the ball to get a big over over North Dakota State.

You can see her powerful hit here. Sorry I can’t embed it, blame ESPN. Arkansas trailed 4-1 at one point in the game, but scored 7 runs in the final two innings to take the win.

Arkansas Track Hits its Stride

(Pun definitely intended)

The #8 ranked Arkansas men’s track team showed out this past weekend, with several athletes breaking or tying their personal bests. It’s a good time to be doing so well, as tournament season begins in a few weeks. The official Arkansas Razorbacks website has a nice video that recaps some of the best moments of the most recent event.

You can see that video here.

Football Program adds a Legacy Player

Jack Lindsey, the grandson of former Arkansas running back Jim Lindsey, has committed to the Razorback football team as a preferred walk-on. In case you didn’t know, a preferred walk-on is a player that is not getting a scholarship, but is guaranteed a spot on the 105 man roster. It’s been an effective way to keep Arkansas kids who aren’t getting scholarships from going to smaller schools.

Lindsey went 201/365 in his senior season at Springdale, accumulating 2,226 yards and 16 touchdowns. With his 6’4, 180 pound frame, Lindsey is a prime candidate for getting the AJ Derby treatment, in my opinion. The prospects for Lindsey beating out the group of QB’s on the roster right now are slim, but a few years under Herb’s weightlifting program, and 6’4 215 could be quite a pass catcher.
