Arkansas Razorback fans knew how special Bobby Portis was. Chicago has quickly learned that as well. As Bobby’s stock continues to rise, I’m sure he’ll get more work as a spokesperson. Maybe he’ll even get the lead in Kazaam 2!

Chicago Bulls forward and Little Rock native Bobby Portis has been turning heads throughout his rookie season in the NBA. The former Arkansas basketball standout has been thrown into the playing mix faster than anyone expected thanks to injuries on the roster.

Portis has proven to be a hardworking player, and has quickly become a fan favorite in Chicago. While he is clearly still developing and growing as a player, his natural talent has shined on several occasions, particularly in a 20 point, 11 rebound performance against the New York Knicks.

So it should come as no surprise to anyone that Bobby Portis has popped up in a commercial for BMO Harris Bank, a Chicago based bank.

Personally, I found Portis’ performance to be both endearing and heartbreaking. You can see how he tries to sneak the gummis onto the conveyor belt, which implies that the lady he’s with is mean and refuses to buy Bobby candy. Those suspicions are confirmed when she refuses to let our sweet lil Bobby get the gummis.

You can see the heartbreak on his face when he realizes that she won’t budge, and that there will be no candy today. His final head shake, fueled by hunger and defeat, is more powerful than any other performance this year. Even more than DiCaprio in The Revenant. Bulls>Bears. Sorry Leo. No Oscar for you this year!
