Razorbacks’ big man Moses Kingsley had his recent efforts paid off, as he has been named the SEC Player of the Week.

The 6-foot-10 junior center center from Abuja, Nigeria was huge for the Razorbacks this week in their victories over Texas Tech and then #5 Texas A&M. For the week, Kinglsey averaged 17.5 point and 11 rebounds. That double-double effort has proved to be a huge boost for the Razorbacks.

During the upset victory over Texas A&M, Kingsley scored 18 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and blocked 2 shots. When you add his recent play to the efforts of Anthon Bell, Dusty Hannahs, and Jabril Durham, your going to see success. Far too often, the Razorbacks relied heavily on three point shooting and resulted in close losses. Even though the last two wins have come by a three point victory and an overtime victory, you get the feeling of a different team when Kingsley gets the ball and dominates in the post. When that happens, then the shooters come open.

During the Texas Tech overtime victory, Kingsley scored 17 points after going scoreless in the first half. He also added 11 rebounds as well. His play in overtime was crucial as well, scoring the first bucket and adding 4 points and 3 rebounds.

Moses Kingsley has three consecutive double-doubles and ranks 2nd in the SEC in double-doubles on the year, with 11. Also, he is one of 5 Power Five Conference players in the country with 11-plus double-doubles this season.

With Moses Kingsley playing on the level he’s on right now, the Razorbacks could be a dangerous team in the SEC. Why dangerous? We can play spoiler to a bunch of teams, and strengthen our case for postseason play. The NCAA Tournament could be out of the picture, but the NIT is still in play if the Razorbacks finish strong. If Moses keeps playing on the level he’s playing at, the Razorbacks will be very competitive.
