Brandon Allen threw for a game high 106 yards and connected on several deep routes, leading the South to the 27-16 win in the 2016 Senior Bowl.

While everyone went home happy from Bud Walton Arena after the Hogs beat the Red Raiders 75-68, another Razorback was making headline during the 2016 Senior Bowl. That player was Brandon Allen.

For a guy that didn’t receive the recognition he deserved throughout the season, he may have earned the respect of, and possibly turned some heads of, NFL scouts with his performance today. BA was on point during his time on the field, outperforming, from a stat perspective, Dak Prescott, Jake Coker, and former Florida quarterback, now Louisiana Tech quarterback Jacoby Brissett.

BA was 7 of 10 passing, and threw for 106 years, averaging 10.6 yards per completion. While he didn’t throw for any touchdown passes, he put the South team in scoring position. For sharing time with 4 of the best quarterbacks in the south, BA no doubt took advantage of this opportunity and made the most of it.

Originally, BA was snubbed from the roster. Much was said after Alabama QB Jake Coker got an invitation to the Senior Bowl, and not Allen. BA had not only his finest season as the Hogs QB, but had one of the senior seasons of any senior in the country. Without Brandon Allen, you can kiss the Liberty Bowl victory and the winning record in the SEC West goodbye. Allen’s play was crucial for the Razorbacks’ mid and late season success. Senior Bowl officials were quick to add Allen after that.

His performance this afternoon puts a bow on one hell of a career for Brandon Allen. Going through hell and high water, BA persevered and will go down in the history books as one of the Razorbacks’ best to play at quarterback. Congratulations to Brandon Allen!
