#2: Brandon Allen’s Two Point Conversion vs Ole Miss

I’m sure you knew what was coming. There’s no way I could make a list of plays and not include anything from the Ole Miss game. This game defined everything that you wanted in a football game. There was scores, there was craziness, and most of all there was a victorious underdog. Arkansas pulled out the win over Ole Miss 53-52 in the most miraculous way possible. There were so many times in this game where Ole Miss should’ve put an end to everything, but by a lot of talent and a little bit of luck we were able to stick around and pull off a win that came down to the final play.

The man who made it all happen was quarterback Brandon Allen. Brandon threw for 442 yards and a career high 6 touchdowns, a record that he later broke in the loss to Mississippi State. It was also the quarterback on the other end of things that was giving Arkansas the most trouble. Chad Kelly of Ole Miss had 6 touchdowns total, 3 in the air and 3 on the ground. He is a prime example of how Arkansas can’t contain mobile quarterbacks. Every time we got near him we couldn’t make a tackle. So that mixed with the talent of their receivers, it was a tough matchup all through the game.

The end of the fourth quarter came down to the consistent Cole Hedlund for 47 yard game winning kick. Of course, that field goal was blocked and the Hogs were sent into overtime. Ole Miss got the ball first, scoring instantly. Arkansas scored on the very next drive as well. Bert decided to grow a pair and go for two, and boy that decision was a facemask from being a terrible one. After Brandon Allen got his facemask held on the first two point attempt, Arkansas went back to the line to try again.

That’s when history happened.

Brandon Allen took it upon himself in a great act of play calling, and sailed into the endzone himself. Thus giving Arkansas the win and marking one of the best football games in Arkansas Razorback history.
