The Awards for Razorbacks Tight End Hunter Henry Keep Coming
The accolades keep coming for Arkansas Razorbacks tight-end, and Little Rock native, Hunter Henry. Today, USA Today announced their All-American team, which included Henry for the first team tight-end. Hunter is on a very impressive list that includes all three Heisman Trophy finalists: Derrick Henry from Alabama, Deshaun Watson from Clemson, and Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey. Today also brought the announcement for the 2015 SEC Coaches All-SEC team, which Hunter was named to first team as well.
To say Henry has had a remarkable season would be an understatement of the highest level. Injuries in the beginning of the season to receivers, especially Keon Hatcher, put a lot of pressure on Henry to step up and be the playmaker quarterback Brandon Allen could trust to get the job done. Henry definitely earned this trust with 46 total receptions for 647 yards, averaging 14.1 yards per catch. Most impressively, though, was that throughout the entire season, he didn’t drop a single pass.
With such a dominating season, and so many special plays, Henry made himself an instant legend, not only for the Razorbacks, but Ole Miss as well. In an overtime game on the line in Oxford, the Hogs had a fourth and twenty-five to convert and get the first and goal. Brandon Allen had no other option but to throw behind the sticks to Hunter and hope he could work his magic to make the play. As Hunter was being tackled, he heaved the ball backwards, getting the ball to Alex Collins, who then got the first down. That was followed by the touchdown and two point conversion that led to Arkansas taking home the win. Thus, the play, “The Henry Heave,” will be something that no Razorback fan will ever forget.
The announcement today is the first of Henry’s possible awards for the season. Tomorrow, the announcement for the John Mackey Award, which is the award given annually to the best tight-end in the country, will be held some time during the day. The trophy will be presented on December 10, at the Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show on ESPNU at 5:00 p.m.

Congratulations to Hunter, and on behalf of Arkansas fans everywhere, thanks for everything he’s done for the Razorbacks. WOO-PIG!
