Arkansas Razorbacks vs Missouri Tigers: Staff Predictions
By Cory Thone
The Arkansas Razorbacks will host the Missouri Tigers on what will be a wet Saturday in Fayetteville. The Hogs are a favorite in the game, but between the weather and the Tiger’s bowl eligibility hanging in the balance, I am worried about this game. The Razorbacks have had a much better offense, but Mizzou’s defense is statistically one of the best in the SEC.
Also, with Gary Pinkel resigning as head coach due to health reasons, it can be assumed that the Tigers will be playing even harder than usual to get him that 6th win, and a final bowl game for Mizzou. If the Tigers were playing literally anybody else, I’d be pulling for them. But they’re playing the Razorbacks, and I want that 7th victory.
So let’s see what our staff here at Razorbackers has to say. As always, I will link the writer’s twitter accounts in their predictions. You should also go follow Razorbacks on Twitter, and like our Facebook page, and subscribe to our YouTube channel.

Barrett Pfieffer – I’m been angry since Saturday, and I hope the Hogs are as well. I hope to see our Razorbacks light up Missouri’s poor defense like there’s notomorrow. We had a little wiggle room to lose to the Tigers in 2014, but an upset on Friday would just be downright terrifying. The atrociousness of our defense against the atrociousness of their offense will make for a decent, well balanced matchup. But going up against a Mizzou defense that’s giving up 301 yards per game should make it easy enough to keep our offense hot. I’m giving my prediction in favor of our Hogs, no way Mizzou walks out of Fayetteville with a dub. Arkansas wins 42-21.
Jose Harber – Last week we watched the Hogs choke on a field goal that would have probably sealed the game and extended their win streak (and my prediction streak). The Hogs have a chance to bounce back this week against Missouri. The Tigers defense is legit, and it will be fun to watch the high powered Hog offense battle it out with the Tigers D. The most points Mizzou has given up this year was 31 to the Mississippi St. Bulldogs, so you have to feel confident that Brandon Allen and crew can match or exceed that number. Luckily, the Tigers offense isn’t near as good as their defense (exactly opposite of the Hogs). The Tigers will come out swinging as they are playing for their coach and the new trophy, but the Razorbacks will just be too much for them. Hogs cover the spread and hand Mizzou a 33-14 loss to end the year at 7-5. Woo Pig!
Blake Smith – Arkansas’ offense has been on fire this past month. Brandon Allen has 14 touchdowns alone in his last 4 games. However, Mizzou brings a top 25 defense into the fold, but a very lackluster offense that has rode the struggle bus most of the season. Mizzou has 5 wins and needs this one to get Coach Pinkel his final bowl game. So, expect Mizzou to give the Hogs its best shot. I think it’s closer than expected, but the Hogs have too much firepower and win 28-17.

Matt Jenkins – This is going to be a simple battle of offense vs. defense. Arkansas has the hottest offense in the SEC with BA leading the charge. Missouri has a tough defense of their own that could cause problems for the Razorbacks. On the flip side, Missouri’s offense is merely nonexistent, just like the Razorbacks defense when they face spread offenses. This game shouldn’t be a problem for the Razorback defense. If you can create turnovers and limit scoring drives, you can mark down a W for the Razorbacks. The Razorbacks need a statement win Friday, and this is a prime opportunity to do so. Arkansas’ defense FINALLY has a good game, and the offense is too much to handle. Arkansas wins 49-14 and finishes the year at 7-5.
Cory Thone – You people saw what happened when I picked the Arkansas Razorbacks to win last week. I won’t be making that mistake again. Between the weather and Missouri’s front 7, the Arkansas running game could struggle to get going on Friday. If that happens, then the Hogs will go to the air more than they should. Which, in the rain, could be a problem. Missouri will eventually intercept a pass and return it to the Hogs 1 yard line before fumbling. Then it will be picked up by Alex Collins and he’ll return it to the Mizzou 10 before being tackled. He then fumbles the ball. Mizzou recovers and goes for a game winning field goal, but it’s blocked. But then Mizzou picks it up and runs for a touchdown as time expires. The Tigers win 6-4 in the dumbest game ever.

There you have it. We predict a Hogs victory by a 4-1 margin. Just a heads up, the Twitter account will be pretty dead during the game tomorrow, since everyone is going to the game to support the Hogs! It’s my first game of 2015, so I’m pretty excited to get wet and call those Hogs! See you on the hill!
