Brandon Allen’s Performace Against Ole Miss Will Be Remembered Forever

Many are saying that Brandon Allen pulled off one of the greatest quarterback performances in Arkansas history with the thrilling 53-52 OT win against the 18th ranked Ole Miss. I think I might agree with them.

The Hogs pulled off one of the greatest and most exciting wins in recent history. From start to finish, it was as if this was a completely different Razorback squad than we have ever seen. With our offensive firepower (and armless defense), we were able to compile together the single most exciting SEC game of the 2015 season, and the most defiant win of the Bret Bielema era. At the hands of despair, our Hogs never gave up. So what more could we ask for?

However, no team is ever able to win without a leader, and we were able to find one in quarterback Brandon Allen. Nobody in their right mind would have ever expected Brandon Allen defeat the 18th best team in the country in overtime. NOBODY. But BA was able to surprise us all, and no Hog fan would have it any other way. I can say for myself that in my lifetime I have never seen a Razorback win like that, and I probably won’t again for a very long time.

We need to get to the numbers, so here is a summary of Brandon’s stats. He completed 33 passes on 45 attempts, racking up 442 yards and 6 touchdowns. The touchdowns were enough for a school record, and the 442 yards passing ranks as 2nd all time. 

Allen’s performance was simply unreal. What we saw on Saturday was the quarterback we’ve been waiting 3 years for. And now that he’s finally arrived, boy does it feel sweet. BA went into Oxford determined to get a win, and he got it. The Landsharks of Ole Miss, or Landsharts as I call them, were just not able to tame Brandon in any way, shape, or form. Now I’d put BA up against anybody, because he has earned my trust and the trust of the entire Hog fan base. After the Auburn win and this fantastic victory against Ole Miss, he’s nothing less than a superstar.

Brandon Allen’s career at Arkansas has been a roller coaster to say in the least. So to see a Brandon Allen that is on fire is amazing. His performances over the last couple of conferences games has given me hope for this Arkansas squad to finish out the season on the right track. But even more importantly it could end BA’s career with wins and a bowl game, which is not even close to what this kid deserves. So forget the shoe magnets, forget the late game interceptions, because Brandon Allen is the quarterback for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The Ole Miss win was nothing short of blissful. But the real question is, how in the world did Allen pull that off against such a rough and tough defense? You could say he’s magic or even that he’s a wizard, but we all know that wizards aren’t allowed to use magic on muggles. So I guess we’ll just have to deal with the fact that Brandon Allen is Hog Wild.
