#4: Arkansas @ Alabama, 3 Overtimes, Razorbacks win 34-31

What a year the Razorbacks had in 2003. Arkansas would be involved in not one, but two overtime classics this season. Arkansas charged into Tuscaloosa with tons of momentum, thanks in large part to beating then #6 Texas in The Big Shootout 38-28 in Austin, Texas. After that game, Arkansas became the #14 team in the country, beat North Texas, and headed to Alabama to face the #9 ranked team in the country. Not many teams can say they beat Alabama in their house, but the 2003 Razorbacks can. That team was loaded with talented playmakers like Matt Jones, Cedric Cobbs, De’Arrius Howard, George Wilson, Richard Smith, Decori Birmingham, and Jason Peters. It was 31-31 heading into overtime, and nobody scored until Razorbacks kicker Chris Balseiro nailed a 19 yard field goal, and gave the Razorbacks the big victory.

After that victory, Arkansas lost 3 straight games. They finished off the year 9-4 by beating Missouri in the Independence Bowl. Maybe that 2003 year could be referred to as a “what could have been” season, had the Razorbacks not have lost those 3 games to Auburn, Florida, and Ole Miss. But there is nothing shabby about a 9-4 year. Aside from that, there stands one very significant stat from this game that hasn’t changed; Since that night in 2003 in Tuscaloosa, Arkansas hasn’t won in Bryant-Denny Stadium. And despite a couple close a, that may not change for a while.
