Despite his recent knee injury, Michael Qualls will reportedly sign a free agent contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The former University of Arkansas basketball player is taking an unusual route to the NBA, but the Thunder will give the top-notch athlete a chance. After tearing his ACL in a June workout, Qualls went undrafted last week and plans to rehab his injury with the Thunder.
Qualls will miss all of summer league and camp with a projected rehab date of about six months away. He’ll likely miss all of the 2015/16 NBA season. He’s likely a longshot to make the roster, but could be added to the team’s D-League affiliate, the OKC Blue, once he’s medically cleared to play.
