Fayetteville, Ark. – Arkansas hasn’t exactly been known for signing big-time recruits on the defensive side of the ball in recent years. That’s something Bret Bielema is well aware of and looking to change in his first full year of recruiting as the Razorbacks head coach.
The Hogs have offered the highest rated defensive end in the state of Texas, Solomon Thomas. For the 6’3”, 260 pound junior from Coppell, Texas, the interest is mutual. Thomas will be attending the Arkansas spring game tomorrow in Fayetteville.
Defensive line coach Charlie Partridge has been the lead recruiter for Thomas, and would love to have an elite player working for his unit. Rivals.com has Thomas listed as the 3rd best defensive end in the country, and 28th best overall prospect.
Scout.com and Rivals.com both have Thomas currently listed as a four-star, but with a potential highlight-reel senior season laying ahead, that number could without a doubt turn to five over time.
Thomas has already received over twenty scholarship offers. Schools such as Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and UCLA are amongst that list. According to 247Sports, Thomas has Arkansas in his top 3, accompanied by Alabama and Texas.
Although Texas is rumored to be the front-runner, Arkansas will look to make a serious push in signing Thomas.
