Former Razorback Damario Ambrose now an Iowa Barnstormer

Des Moines, Iowa – In a “Where Are They Now” segment former Arkansas Razorback defensive end Damario Ambrose, now Mario, has resurfaced as a player for the Iowa Barnstormers.

Ambrose, now listed at 6’ 4”, 270 pounds, was a true freshman contributor for the Hogs in 2007 earning SEC Freshman First-Team honors. Through his sophomore and junior campaigns Ambrose started a total of eight games playing in 24 only missing one game during his sophomore season (South Carolina).

As a senior Ambrose started in all 12 games for the Hogs compiling 3.5 sacks, 6.5 tackles for-a-loss, and 31 total tackles. After graduating from Arkansas Ambrose had free agent mini-camp showings with the St. Louis Rams and New York Jets.

Out of high school Ambrose was considered the 19th best player in the state of Alabama per Rivals and the No. 35 defensive end in the nation. During his senior year at Davidson he earned Second-Team All Region by the Mobile Press-Register.

Play for the Iowa Barnstormers in the AFL began on March 23, in a winning effort against the Chicago Rush, 63-41. The Barnstormers are currently 2-1 with their lone loss coming to the Spokane Shock 43-66.
